Appraisal Institute’s Review Theory-General Course

Valuation Management Group’s Vice President of Commercial Quality Control, Shannon Reyome, recently attended the Appraisal Institute’s Review Theory-General course in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

This class is required as part of the Appraisal Institute’s AI-GRS designation program. The AI-GRS designation represents advanced appraisal review knowledge, and stands for years of proven, real-life real estate appraisal review experience. Appraisal Institute designations signify a commitment to strict professional ethics and standards. According to the Appraisal Institute’s course description, “Review Theory-General is the fundamental review course that all reviewers should have in their educational background. Participants embark on an in-depth journey of the seven steps that are outlined through the review process. To be a reviewer, an appraiser must learn how to develop opinions of completeness, accuracy, adequacy, relevance, and reasonableness relative to the work under review. These opinions must be refined through tests of reasonableness in order to develop opinions of appropriateness and credibility.”

Participation in Appraisal Institute courses and meetings are just a couple of ways Valuation Management Group stays abreast of changes and education within the appraisal industry. Our commercial review staff includes an Appraisal Institute designated MAI, two Appraisal Institute candidates for AI-GRS designation, and also an Affiliate Member of the Appraisal Institute. We value the various forms of education that the Appraisal Institute courses provide, while at the same time allowing an opportunity to meet industry experts and share information, ideas and experiences.
